Empowerment

There was a time when I thought leadership meant protection, stepping in, shielding people from failure, keeping things on track. It felt noble. It was exhausting.

Then one day, someone I had mentored told me, "You are great at helping me, but you never just let go."

That comment stayed with me.

Empowerment is not about giving people freedom. It is about trusting them with it.

It means saying, "I believe in your judgment," and then living with the result, even when it is not what you would have done.

When I finally started handing off real ownership instead of tasks, I saw people light up in ways I had not expected. They did not need constant guidance. They needed space to grow into their own strength.

The best thing you can give a team is not protection. It is permission.
