Ever had someone see potential in you that you didn't see yourself? That's the power of a great mentor.

Throughout my career, I've been incredibly fortunate to work with exceptional people. There were three managers in particular who didn't just give me a job—they completely changed the way I thought about leadership and my own potential.

My first mentor was a teacher. He saw a spark in me that I couldn't see myself, and with patient guidance, he helped me turn it into a fire. He didn't just assign me roles; he curated them, each one a perfectly chosen challenge that forged confidence from my raw inexperience.

My second mentor pushed me to think bigger and take creative risks. He taught me to think about progress over perfection. Sometimes you have the luxury of finding the perfect solution, you just need to act with what you've got. We went through some challenging times together, but it was in those moments of pressure that his lessons truly solidified.

With my third mentor, thinking and planning were always strategic. He gave me the space to fail, to trust my own judgment, and to solve problems on my own—but I always knew his support was just a phone call away.

Now, my personal journey has come full circle. I'm no longer driven by my own success, but by the desire to pass on these values and lessons. I've found a new kind of fulfillment in mentoring others, hoping my impact will live on through the people I have guided, taught, and inspired. My goal is to better prepare each person to determine what success means to them.

What's the one lesson a mentor taught you that still guides you today? Share your story in the comments!
